Tom's first experience with construction was as a summer laborer and carpenter in commercial and residential construction as he pursued his BA from the University of Minnesota. After graduation, he spent time in sales and sales management before joining his brother Ron at R.J. Ryan Construction.

For more than twenty years, Tom and his wife Gwen have lived in the community of Apple Valley, where they raised their children Kelly and Nate. When he is not at R.J. Ryan, Tom enjoys downhill skiing, golf and reading.

Co-President, Jack Grotkin joined the team at R.J. Ryan in 1985. Since that time, Jack has managed the construction of a wide variety of buildings, including car dealerships, office buildings, warehouses and banks. His total attention to detail, time line, and drive for customer satisfaction contribute in large part to the reputation R.J. Ryan enjoys today.

Jack graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a BS in Engineering and began his career with a distinguished national contracting firm specializing in industrial technology. While employed there, Jack was involved with construction renovations of the Monticello and Prairie Island Nuclear Power Plants. During that time, Jack also developed a strong interest in custom design, engineering and construction of commercial buildings.

In 1978, Ron Ryan founded R.J. Ryan Construction. Under Ron's 28 years of leadership, the company grew to be one of the Twin City area's top commercial general contracting firms.

Ron graduated in 1966 with a BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Minnesota. After completing graduate work at George Washington University in Washington, DC, Ron embarked upon a career in the field of structural engineering.

In December 2006, Ron retired as President of R.J. Ryan Construction. Ron and his wife Patty currently live in Mendota Heights. They enjoy visits from their children, Molly and John, while continuing to raise their daughter Sara. In his free time, Ron enjoys hunting, fishing, skiing, golf and woodworking.
